Ohhh what a weekend....

I spent most of my weekend at the vets since my lovely dog Monki ate her precious hippo toy. Thankfully she pooped today and is back to normal! Just a warning for all the pet owners out there...
- dont wait to see what happens. Always go straight to the vet
- watch out for the frogs!!! It's frog season and no matter how smart your dog is they will take a chance and give a kiss to a poisioness frog and end up very sick or even worse...
- keep walks in the cool parts of the day and remember just because you can't feel the ground doesn't mean it's not burning your puppies feet!

I hope everyone is enjoying there summer
Until next time...
Goodnight xoxo Lexi, Chamonix, and monki

Night time scratches...

There are usually two days out of the week that my two full time jobs require me to work all day with no pony time. But this means I get to sneak in the barn and read my horse a bedtime story before I tuck her in. Special things happen at night. The crickets sing and the wind blows it's beautiful florida breeze and you forget all your low points of the day. You actually have the time to scratch your horse on the withers while they sway and bend to help you find the right spot. This is the time for you and your horse to not have to worry about shoulder ins or time faults. It's you two and the night. Tonight is one of those nights and I am writing directly from my horses stall because I don't want to make a mistake when explaining this magical moment. Right now nix has her head wrapped around me with apple guts dripping from her mouth and my hands are dirty from scratching every spot she couldn't reach herself. The crickets are loud and the moon is brighter then ever. Besides the crickets all I hear are the snoors coming from the barn dogs. I have almost forgotten about the elderly lady yelling at me about her frozen drink not having enough caramel (even though the fact she was over 300 pounds clearly meant she didn't need anymore) ohhh nix just stuck her tongue out at me. What was I saying? Ohhh right nothing else matters but this moment. Oops rambling again. Well time for me and my horse to get some sleep. Until tomorrow.. Goodnight :)

I am honored to be considered one of "Horse Junkies United" cool people!

I want to first thank Carrie Braff who is the Blogger in Chief for a website called Horse Junkies United. Horse Junkies United is a super cool website that will cover any amateur riders needs, I would know I read it everyday!
I was extremely humbled by Carrie being humbled by my facebook post which was intended to raise awareness about the Boyd Martin tragedy and about what ECOGOLD was doing to help. I am huge on networking and I felt that I had the ability to do my best and try and get the word out there to all my equine friends! I did not know it would come to people being moved about my gesture.

"Lexi – Thank you so much for taking the time to help create awareness and spread the word.  Your gesture is unbelievably kind.  You are part of the reason the Horse Community is something very, very special." horsejunkiesunited.com

Carrie emailed me to ask if I would answer a few questions so she could post my story on her website. UHH HECK YEA!!!! I feel bad since the few questions I was supposed to answer in a one to two paragraph turned into a chapter book. But I could not be more happy about the way my story came out!http://horsejunkiesunited.com/2011/06/lexi-story-the-power-of-one-through-social-media/

I know of only one person who bought a ECOGOLD pad because of my posts and that is alright by me! I am glad I could help in the tiniest way possible!

I would also like to give a big thanks to Patricia Da Silva for her heart warming post =D

In all honesty I only do what I can times a billion! I feel if I can help in any way at all then it is my duty to help!

Goodnight all!(even though I have no one following my posts)
xoxo Lexi!

Lunch time!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdNf7L0WRkE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
(all info is thanks to Ecogold and Boyd Martins blog)

I am spending my lunch break going threw some videos like I usually do and I came a across this video of Boyd Martin and his horse Neville who I believe was the last horse pulled out of the fire. This is one of my favorite videos because this how I want me and my horse to look going around the jump course. Boy does he make it look easy! Even the horse is cool and calm, not even the slightest gesture that he is having any problem with the course.
This video also reminds me of how fragile life can be with our horses. I know I could never imagine what Boyd and his team are going threw but it brings me back to when my horse punctured her cornea 8 months ago. I am lucky that she only lost her vision in that eye and now we are up to jumping 3'-3'3" with plenty of room to go.
We can not imagine what Boyd and his team are going threw bu we can help by donating. I plan on ordering as much Ecogold product as my bank account will allow tomorrow lol and later on in the month order a bridle from five star tack. The best part about these company's is you are helping as well as getting something for your horse in return.
My horse wouldn't be the same with out my Ecogold XC saddle pad. Our saddle does not slip the slightest anymore and the contoured shape fits perfectly with her high withers.
Be a sport and help by buying a Ecogold saddle pad. My goal is to get atleast 2 of my Facebook friends to buy a pad. I would do this for anyone and would want the same done for me.
Xoxo lex and Chamonix

Help Boyd Martin!

I had recently bought an Ecogold pad for my hard to fit mare, it is the best thing in my tack trunk. I am tagging all my equestrian friends to spread the word of the tragic barn fire that happened. There are many ways to help and donate but I find that besides giving just plain old money you can buy an awesome pad from Ecogold and 50% of the profit goes to Boyd Martin’s fund. I would want the same done for any of my horses or friends horses regardless if you are an international rider or just a pleasure rider, we are all equestrians and we all belong to the horse community regardless of our background.
If you have no use for a jumping or dressage pad my suggestion would be to buy one as a gift or buy one to donate to a nonprofit organization whether it’s for a horse rescue or a handicap ridding association
